Dolby is the global market leader in cinema sound and our content services engineers are involved in providing services to vast majority of movies released in a multi-channel format throughout the world. The content services team in South East Asia will be responsible to provide cinema product support, services, and sound consultancy to content production companies and post production facilities across the South East Asia region. Dolby plans to expand the scope of its cinema business to cover all of Dolby’s target market segments including Cinema, Blu-ray, Broadcast and e-Media. We also plan on adding services for Video & Image in future.
The Cinema Support Engineer oversees and provides product technical support to customers and dealers for Dolby’s Digital Cinema Servers, Cinema Audio Processors, and 3D projection products deployed in the market. Develops, plans and implements support for field beta programs. Manages training programs at customer sites and in Dolby facilities to educate customer personnel and dealers with highly specialized knowledge in Dolby Digital Cinema equipment. Provides technical support for regional industry events. Provides customer input on customer support needs for new and existing products to the WW customer support and engineering staff. Assigned projects are diverse in problem solving and scope, requiring sound, technical judgement in selecting best correctional method.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities and roles of the position of Cinema Support Engineer, South East Asia are as follows:
- Respond to customer technical support needs for Digital Cinema Servers, Audio Processors, and 3D Cinema products.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems where analysis of situation requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
- Customer Technical Liaison working closely with assigned customers for technical support and general point of contact.
- Interpret customer needs and identify potential needs for product changes from a POV of better support and service delivery and support requirements.
- Provide input for installation and maintenance documentation on products.
- Provide on-site technical support for testing new products, installations.
- Manage and deliver technical training courses for Dolby dealers, customers, and the third party integrators from a POV of service and support of the equipment.
- Report design, reliability, maintenance problems or bugs to the global technical support team.
- Use in-house databases for equipment and software tracking, entitlements, case reporting and knowledge base updates.
*LIaise with the global cinema technical support team in San Francisco as well as work cooperatively with other departments and offices in the APAC Region to meet service requirements for Dolby’s 24/7 global product support processes.
Qualifications:
Skills and Education
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience with a comprehensive understanding of Digital Cinema equipment, including installation of: Digital Cinema Servers, Integrated Media Blocks (IMB), Cinema Audio Processors, 3D Cinema products, and Digital Cinema projectors.
- Experience with Professional Video equipment a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a field engineer in the cinema industry.
- Experience in both Windows and Linux based operating systems and application software programs.
Ability to work without supervision in the field and to deal professionally with cinema dealers and customers at all levels.
- Must have experience in hardware, software, network technology and troubleshooting.
- Must have experience in both 2K and 4K resolution formats for, HL MPEG and JPEG2K.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting specific deadlines.
- Ability to travel as required to fulfill position requirements. Some international travel will be required.
- Ability to lift and carry up electronic equipment for installations, demonstrations and training.
- Ability to work at a computer keyboard 4 hours a day.
- Ability to work on an “on-call” basis 1-2 weekends per month and on selected holidays throughout the year to address critical severity problems which may arise during off hours.
