The Senior Product Manager, Dolby Voice VoIP Phone Products, is responsible for the definition, development, management, sustaining and execution of advanced Dolby Voice conferencing IP phone products throughout the product lifecycle. This person works closely with Product Marketing, Platform architecture teams, Engineering and other stakeholders to create best-in-class products. This person is responsible for taking requirement input from customers and internal stakeholders and delivering on-time, profitable products that contain significant, meaningful innovations and meet customer and market needs. They are responsible for creating the product requirements documents and product roadmaps and making critical decisions that enable product development teams to meet feature, schedule, quality and margin targets. The Senior Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall vision, strategy and goals.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for defining the detailed product requirements and owning the Product Requirements Document (PRD). Ensure this document meets the market need, as expressed in the Marketing Requirement Document (MRD), captures customer usage and use cases, and contains the input, and has the buy-in of the cross-functional product development teams (Engineering, QA, Platforms).
- Own the development, management, delivery, and end-of-life activities for Dolby Voice IP Phone products.
- Working with Platform, Engineering, and QA to be responsible for day-to-day product management tasks such as prioritizing bug fixes, identifying and defining new product features and enhancements; clarifying the product requirements and customer need; and scheduling product updates or updating the individual product roadmap.
- Create and maintain a collaborative team relationship with all cross-functional stakeholders, especially across geographic boundaries; ensure that Product Development efforts are a shared responsibility of a whole company-wide product team.
- Be a subject matter expert in the features and usage of your products; stay current with industry technology trends, technical developments and maintain awareness of market and customer trends. Use this knowledge to generate new features for existing products and products under development.
- Be a visible and pro-active product expert, leader and evangelist, provide technical expertise to other functions.
- Understand competitive products and manage Dolby products to exceed them. Study, map and respond to competitive analysis.
- Be responsible for guiding the product through the Dolby’s product delivery methodology using either waterfall and/or Agile methodologies.
- Help develop, document and coach best practices within the team. Leverage functional expertise to mentor junior personnel.
- Be a consultant and spokesperson for Product Marketing, Corporate Marketing and Sales as required, with detailed product information, product training, product meetings with customers, eco-system partners and prospects, customer support, industry presentations, analyst questions, and information to assist with the go-to-market and ongoing support of the product in the field.
- Working with account owners, meet with customers, partners and other 3rd parties with a product focus. Leverage customer relationships to learn about customer requirements and expectations first hand.
Qualifications:
- Experience developing VoIP or other telephony products: IP telephony, audio or video IP phone products, mobile devices, or conferencing devices.
- Knowledge and expertise in most or all of the following is essential
- Conferencing industry ecosystem, relevant products, technologies and customers
- VoIP and mobility technologies: (signaling, audio codecs, transport protocols, etc.)
- Electro-acoustics, audio and speech signal processing, and UI/UX.
- Device interface technologies such as Bluetooth and USB
- Speech compression technologies, signaling, transport and echo cancelation/suppression and noise reduction technologies.
- Relevant quality and industry standards as well as applicable regulatory requirements
- Experience with outsourced manufacturing
- Proven experience in managing across the complete whole product lifecycle, from initial concept to end-of-life using either waterfall or Agile product methodologies.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in product management, including hardware and software.
- Track record of managing successful complex technology products and systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-technology environment.
- Strong, oral, and written, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; excellent team member, having a strong public presence with the talent to present.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams, both functionally and geographically.
- Organizational savvy to understand how to get things done in a matrix organization; proven ability to work hands-on and execute many things at once.
- Ability to travel domestically and overseas. International travel and work experience desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, technical, or related fields.
- Masters, advanced degree, and / or MBA is highly desirable.
