Responsibilities:
The position is in the Audio Research organization of Dolby. The research engineer position focuses on the creation of speech and audio signal processing technologies including the whole range of research from the underlying theoretical concepts to the development of prototypes that provide a proof of concept. As a part of an international team, you will work on ideas exploring new horizons in the field of audio and speech processing, such as audio analysis, audio coding, spatial capture and rendering, media intelligence, etc.
You should be a self-motivated, highly talented individual interested in applying your skills in technologies involving a fundamental understanding of the way that sound sources (audio, speech, and voice) are captured, manipulated, coded, delivered, enhanced and played back using digital signal processing techniques. Applications include pre-processing, coding and post-processing solutions in market areas such as consumer electronics, mobile, broadcast, PC and digital cinema applications.
You will work in cooperation with other technology developers and researchers within Dolby’s global research network, and contribute with ideas that will shape the future direction of the company.
Qualifications:
Research experience in any of the following fields: Speech or audio signal processing, psychoacoustics, electro acoustics, mobile audio applications, audio processing for games.
- MS in Electrical Engineering or similar or PhD
- Proficiency in digital signal processing theory and applications.
- Good understanding of general acoustics.
- Skilled in programming Matlab and C/C++.
- Strong personal interest in sound technologies and in learning, researching, and creating relevant new technologies with high commercial impact.
- Team-oriented work ethic and interest in working in cross-continental teams.
- Independent, self-motivated, proactive and positive, focused on possibilities and solutions.
- Excellent communication skills. Fluent in English.
- Experience in project leadership is a merit.
