Contract Product Manager, Software Technology Enablement Tools
Part time, contractor (16 - 20 hours/week)
Contract Duration: 9 months

The Product Manager, Software Technology Enablement Tools, is responsible for the definition, development, management, sustaining and execution of advanced Dolby encoding and decoding products throughout the product lifecycle. Works closely with Product Marketing, Platform teams, Engineering and other stakeholders to create best-in-class solutions to promote adoption of new Dolby technologies. Is responsible for taking multiple sets of market requirements documents from Product Marketing, input from customers, and delivering on-time products that contain significant, meaningful innovations and meet customer and market needs. Owns the product requirements document, manages product development to meet feature, schedule and margin targets and is responsible for the product, or product line, and updates during its time in-market. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall vision, strategy and goals.
Responsibilities:
- As a visible and pro-active product expert, leader and evangelist, you will own the roadmap, development, management, delivery and ultimate end of life for an individual or group of Dolby products.
- Be responsible for, define the detailed product requirements, and own, the Product Requirements Document (PRD). Ensure this document meets the market need, as expressed in the MRD, captures customer usage and use cases, and contains the input, and has the buy-in of the Products and Technologies Group.
- Working with the internal engineering teams, leverage Dolby’s existing technology platforms to bring them to the market. Provide detailed feedback to further develop existing technology platforms or contribute ideas that can lead to the creation of new platforms.
- Stay current with industry technology trends, technical developments and maintain awareness of market and customer trends. Use this knowledge to generate new features for existing products and products under development.
- Support Product Marketing, Corporate Marketing and Sales as required, with detailed product information, product training, product meetings with customers, eco-system partners and prospects, customer support, industry presentations, analyst questions, and information to assist with the go-to-market and ongoing support of the product in the field.
- As well as working with account owners, meeting with customers, beta testers, partners and other 3rd parties with a product focus, you will be responsible for guiding the product through Dolby’s Product Lifecycle Management process, providing insight into how Dolby products are integrated into licensees’ products or larger systems.
Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of audio, video and internet technologies.
- Adaptive streaming formats such as HLS, Smooth and DashUltraViolet ecosystem and specification.
- Industry standard video codecs such as H.264, x264 and HEVC.
- Knowledge of Dolby’s products and technologies including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby E.
- Extensive background in core software development of Windows applications.
- Knowledge of installation, anti-piracy, and delivery mechanisms as well as core application methodologies desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in product management.
- Proven track record of managing successful & complex technology products and systems, and experience in managing across the complete whole product lifecycle, from initial concept to end-of-life.
- Experience working with onshore and offshore engineering teams.
