Due to continued growth, Dolby is now seeking a talented Senior Engineering Project Manager to join our Emedia Technology team. This is a senior role within the Emedia Engineering team to successfully bring the next generation of Dolby's audio and video products and licensed technologies to market on time, on budget and with the needed business value.

This primary function of the Senior Engineering Project Manager is to provide project management support for multiple, complex, cross-site product hardware and/or software development efforts. The Project Manager will be responsible to initiate and facilitate the planning and tracking of product development efforts based on defined product requirements through product release.

The Project Manager partners with the Engineering Leads who have primary responsibility for all development deliverables and works closely with Program Managers who facilitate and coordinate the cross-functional activities between engineering, marketing, sales, etc. The Project Manager produces regular program status updates to engineering management and works with engineering management to define and implement project management and development best practices and to train and mentor others in applying them.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning

Play a lead role in planning engineering development effort based on product requirements through product release. Create development plans and schedules, work and cost estimates, and risk mitigation plans.

Project Tracking

Manage tracking of projects against development plans and resolve issues as they arise. Provide feedback to engineering management and the development team on status and issues. At projects end, assess teams performance against baseline schedule, identify areas for improvement of quality and accuracy of schedules, and work with engineering management to implement process improvements.

Project Management Leadership

Provide guidance and expertise to engineers with project management duties and stay current with company and industry best practices. Attend approved seminars, conferences and short courses to increase knowledge and expertise. Keep aligned with evolving organizational and operational needs and recommend changes to the Project Manager role.

Process Improvement

Improve project management and development capabilities across the engineering organization. Keep up to date on "best practices" of peers in the same or other groups and work to continuously improve both project management and development processes based on management approved approaches. Establish meaningful metrics for measuring performance in meeting development goals.

Qualifications:

Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years professional experience in successful project management for hardware and software projects using both Waterfall and Agile development techniques.
- Experience in programs working across multiple geographies and/or internal departments.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tool, Excel and collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of development best practices, such as CMMi, ISO 9001, and Six Sigma.
- Excellent organizational skills. Able to manage multiple projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate and present project status and issues clearly and effectively.
- Project Management Institute PMP certification is desirable.
- Experience as a development engineer in software development life cycle is desirable. Understands software development activities such as coding, compiling, testing and debugging.
- Occasional travel required to global engineering offices.
